Can’t we all just get along?
Today, Cardi B had time. She posted several videos on Instagram addressing her beef with Nicki Minaj. It all started last night when Nicki Minaj took to her Beats 1 show, Queen Radio, once again to attack Cardi with various claims regarding their feud:
Well Cardi wasn’t going to have it. She clapped back hard with receipts in hand, serving the tea extra hot! Listen to Miss Belcalis let the Young Money rapper have it:
Ouch! We’re sure Nicki probably was not too pleased to learn that the days when she was the industry’s top pick are long gone. But, this makes one wonder whether Nicki’s success was actually because she was in demand, or because at the time, she was really the only mainstream female rapper out. Sure there was Dej Loaf, Young M.A., Angel Haze, and Iggy Azalea, but none of them were given a sufficient platform to actually compete with Nicki in a way that would show who really had the “it” factor.
Nicki then responded through Twitter:
This is interesting. We’re not sure about all of you, but from what we can remember, nearly every rap feature in Nicki’s career has consisted of constant bragging about her deals and endorsements. Is it really a good argument that Cardi took one moment to reference that she turned down deals that were then given to Nicki, when there is almost a decade’s worth of Nicki features “only” talking about the opposite? We think not.
But later, Nicki seemed to raise a white flag of surrender:
Well that changed quick. It seems as though after 9 years, Nicki has finally met her match. There was once a time when artists were scared to defend themselves against Nicki out of fear that the machine behind her would have them blackballed. Not anymore. Perhaps Nicki should take her own advice and remember when she stated this about Lil’ Kim in 2010:
It’s funny how things change, isn’t it?
In the meantime, check out Cardi’s new single, “Money,” and Lil’ Kim’s new remix to “Nasty One,” which are both available now on all streaming platforms and digital stores!
